We Did It
This morning I sat on the edge of my driveway with my dog, and watched Tugs and Grumpy pull away in that little red Mazda 3. Today I don’t have hundreds of miles to travel; I don’t have knew sights to see or new places to discover. Tonight I will go to sleep in the same city I woke up in. We drove across the entire country, and now it’s all over. I stayed in my driveway a long...
We Lost the Lobster
Lawrence the Lobster was to be discovered in the Pacific, stranded there by a storm, heartbroken by the idea he would never see his family again. But alas! us college kids would stumble across his reddish, shelled self, and return him to the Atlantic we would!
So, we borrowed Lawrence (in all his red plastic glory) from Grumple’s roommate, packed him in a suitcase, and flew him across the...
Des Moines, IA
While passing through Iowa we were fortunate enough to stay with my grandfather, GIII, and his dog Maggie. He was a gracious host and served us a true Iowan dinner - burgers and corn on the cob. I was in charge of making the corn on the cob and flubbed up setting the timer, but GIII came to the rescue and saved the corn from certain destruction. We also got to see my aunt Nancy, and GIII took us...

Denver, CO
Before that horrid night we spent in the car (which I did NOT want to do in the first place), we had the luxury of staying two nights with my aunt in Denver. We were completely spoiled with much food and comfort. We each had our own beds that were at least full-sized and we were able to do our laundry.
I took Grumpy and Stache to Elitch Gardens, an amusement park. We first went on a swinging...
Motel Mazda
So, one thing that you’re supposed to do on a road trip is sleep in the car. Taps was against the idea, but Grumps and I were all for it. It’s just one of those things that seemed natural to do, like cruising along down the freeway with the windows down and the sun shining and the radio tuned into a local station that doesn’t come in too well but plays all the classics. The scene...
Vegas, Baby
We left early Tuesday morning and took the I-15 up to Vegas. It was a painless drive, and we arrived at the Mandalay Bay with ample time to spend in the wave pool. Later that day, we lived it up at Circo, a restaurant overlooking the dancing fountain at the Bellagio.

Grumpy's Introduction
Let me introduce myself. Tubs and Mustache call me Grumpy for no apparent reason. We stayed at my house in Southern California before we began. I like long walks on the beach, and consuming baked goods as well as possessing them.
Some may find it odd that the only one on the trip who can actually drive my car is me. That’s not a problem, though, because I’m awesome. I’m also...
T (fill-in-the-blank) S
SO, my road name is Tugs, although my friends have called me Tubs, Taps, Tabs, Tags, and so forth. Basically, just have a T at the beginning and an S at the end, I’ll respond. Well, maybe not to Tubs. That person will get a displeased look. I still can’t believe I am in California, and that fact probably won’t hit me until much later. For the road trip across the country, I told...
Let's Introduce Ourselves
So, I guess I’ll go first. My nickname is Stache. I’m the annoying one, the one who always tends to say a bunch of words but not actually form coherent thoughts, the one with a continual bruise on her upper left arm from being punched by the boy aptly nicknamed Grumpy. I assume I also have redeeming qualities, since the other’s keep me around. And Grumpy’s my best friend,...
